Bounty Car Race

Post by TAL »

A bounty car race is a finishing touch to any pine car race ....

This is how it works............ A race will be held for an organization , group or class which ever you prefer and trophies and or awards will be giving as usual.........

The first place winning car of your chosen class will become the first bounty car for the organization or group and the owner of the winning car will become the bounty car trophy holder and keeper until the next year , season or big pinecar event........

We took 3 trophies and made a really nice custom trophy that the bounty car can sit in and the owner of the bounty car is the holder and keeper of the bounty car trophy until the next year ,season or big pine car event...

Then at the end of the next race the winner of that race will then challenge the bounty car from last year, season or big pine car event and the winner of the bounty car race will be the holder and keeper of the bounty car trophy until the next year ,season or big pine car event........

We also give the bounty car winner an award or medal of some kind to keep as their own .........

Over a period of time the bounty car trophy holder can accumulate numerous bounty car medals before they have to award the bounty car trophy to someone else..........

Due to the standing bounty car being fresh and hopefully ready to run , the challenger after winning his or her race and their right to challenge the bounty car ,will have a few minutes to maybe freshing up their car before the bounty car race and maybe a few bye runs if they choose..........

Bounty race winner can be determined buy both the challenger and the standing bounty car making 1 or 2 runs in each lane........

Or the way we did it before we got a timer is by the 2 cars running 1 time in each lane and the challenger had to win in every lane to become the bounty car because the bounty car is a proven winner and if the standing bounty car wins one heat the race is over and it will remain the bounty car ...

If the standing bounty car loses the event, it will then be retired and will never again race within the organization.....

That's an interesting idea. We were looking at doing an "Outlaw" race next season but this may be something our Pack should look at as well. Thanks for the post.

Btw, what part of NC are you located?

We ran a stock class and also an open class race......... Our bounty car trophy is pretty much dominated by the open class cars , but could very well be limited to any specific class.......

What we find to be interesting is the desire to become the bounty car winner is more seeked than being the winner of their particular class....

While being the present bounty car owner you get to wear your medal or medals to the group pinewood derby events when defending your title.... You also get to display your car on the bounty car trophy while the other races are in process... The bounty car will also be known as the car to beat and competitors will have to earn the right to race against it...

If the bounty car medals are made limited and specifically numbered ( # 001 , # 002 , # 003 , etc. ) they are that much more desired within the group.........

We are 10 miles inland in south eastern n.c. not far from you ....

Round about 30 miles to whiteville , 30 miles to wilmington , and 30 miles to myrtle beach

I like the idea. Do you have any pictures you can post of what the "bounty car trophy" looks like?
