pcar,

You can pick up the Estes starter kits at any hobby store or Wally World. This is a great way to get started. Also, most Scout stores also carry a selection of them. Additionally, the scout stores carry the engines in bulk, or you can get them over the net. This is a great way to get started.

We did it for an end-of-the-year blow out for the cubs. We got each of the kids a rocket for them to assemble and paint at home, then we met at a park for a big bbq, set up a couple of launch pads, and everyone got to shoot off their rockets a few times!

The library is also a good place.

Depending on if you are talking about the kit rockets or building a real mini rocket.

I will bet, it's the kit rockets. most of us have never attempted a real mini rocket. but would be neat to try.

Go to the website www.nar.org. This is the National Association of Rocketry. There may be a club near you that would be happy to help with guidance and equipment. I am a member of a club in Alabama and we help scouts a few times a year.

I am also a Webelos Den leader and we have built rockets two times in the past few years.

Some good ones are the:

Quest Starhawk http://www.questaerospace.com/itemdesc. ... 83&eq=&Tp=

Fliskits Thing-a-ma-jig http://www.fliskits.com/products/01prod_fs.htm
The Thing-a-ma-jig is cheaper in bulk.. just contact them directly.

The Starhawk is easier to build. It used a plastic fin can.. The Thing-a-ma-jig teaches more about how to really build a rocket and it is bigger.

You can also check out.

http://www.estesrockets.com/

http://www.esteseducator.com/

http://www.questaerospace.com/

These sites have rockets and information that you can use.

PM me if you have any questions.

FYI - Rocket guys really don't like the term "Rocket Shoot". It is a rocket launch. "Shoot" has negative connotations. LOL!
