I saw this and the first thing I thought of was derby racing. I thought it was kinda funny. I think a kid didn't know the answer so he just kind of winged it.

Actually if the weight hit the elephant at 22 mph and the elephant weighed 5000 kg and all the energy was transferred in the collision... how fast would the elephant be traveling when it hit the spring? ...and wouldn't the answers to a/ and b/ still be the same? Bonus points to anyone who can guess the sex of the elephant.

The sex of the elephant is Male - Females aren't dumb enough to stand on a track with things hurrling at them.
