Metalcraft Ideas
Metalcraft Ideas
Each year I try to do something different with the boys. They are Webelo 1s now which puts them in 4th grade. In years past we have made projects with wood, paper, cardboard, leather, and plastic. This year I was hoping to come up a neat project the boys could make with metal. I would like to use nuts and bolts with some soldering. I just can't seem to come up with a good project within the budget constraints. I have considered stamping in metal which is a possibility. Any good ideas out there?

Why not something like a electronics project? There are ones that come as a kit and you solder things together. Maybe something with a motor and controller to make things more interesting.
Here's a site that has a bunch of kits, http://www.electronickits.com/. Never bought anything from them, but it might give you some ideas.

Thanks for the resources! I plan to wait for warmer weather to use electricity. I will have the boys build their own rocket launcher. As a Pack we enjoy launching rockets at camp.
