Any of you guys ever try Valve cover car racing?

It's kinda like the Pinewood Derby, Only differince is the car is made
from a valve cover.

And the track has no lane strip.

Here is a web site showing a few rules:

Here is a few photos of one:

Looks like fun.

looks cool, but I have a hard enough time getting people to build wooden cars. The 20' flat part of the track seems kinda short for a 10lb car going down a 8' incline. Even so, I would like to watch a race.

Scubersteve,
One of the Guys I work with brought his valve cover car in to show it to me.
(The photos of the car are his.)
He told me his dad and hem were 2 time grand champs at this race.

I myself have never seen a valve cover car race!
But it sure looks like fun.

And I just happen to have a couple of old valve covers in the trunk of the car that I recently switched out for chrome ones. Been driving around for a week wondering if I should give them away or just toss them. They're off a 352 FE motor and have "Powered By Ford" stamped into them
The one you posted pics of is very impressive - must have taken a lot of cutting and shutting to get it tapered like that. Very nice job.

I have a few rusty old valve covers myself.
Been  I'd like to build a few of them
to have hanging around in the shop. (for show)

The valve cover car was not made by me.. My friend JT and his Dad
made the car.
He brought it into work to show the valve cover racer to me
from when he was a kid.
His dad was into Hot Rod's and takeing him to the Hot Rod show events.
Tell then I'v never seen the likes of valve cover car racing.
