We are proud to announce our 2nd Annual - Mid-America Pinewood Derby for 2012 - It will happen April 28th, 2012 - Here in Omaha, NE

:thinking: If I am reading the rules correctly, one can lighten the wheels by lathing the backside / underside of the tread?

That would be a correct interpetation of the rules -- all the markings have to be intact both inside and outside of the wheel - these are very progressive rules. The tread however has to remain flat and parrallel with the bore - no H or V cutting on the tread it MUST remain flat.
