Post by Noskills »

My son had to make a poster and present on a "how to" book.
What better book that Troy Thorne's How to Build the Fastest Pinewood Derby Car.
Man we have gotten alot of mileage out the the PWD in school :D

Very well done! I hope he got a good grade on it!

My son (Boy Scout, now in high school) entered the York County, Science and Engineering Fair for his first time this year (Junior Division). He did his project on "Weight Effects in Pinewood Derby". Although he did not make Grand Champion, his project did win 1st Place in the Physics Category. I discovered that there are a lot of people out there that find the science of Pinewood Derby to be a very facinating subject. The judges (Penn State College Professors) loved his subject and highly encouraged him to do another project in the same subject next year. He's thinking of doing something on the effects of different lubrications in Pinewood Derby.

That is great. Nothing like a presentation to make you understand the material even more than from just building the car.

I can see some science fairs in our future too.
