Lego decorated PWD cars

I'm probably behind the times but this is a new one for me. Our pack is going to race regulation BSA cars for children too young to be in a Pinewood Derby. We have an old 2 lane wood track we're going to set up in an aisle during regulation racing and turn them loose. No record keeping. Companies actually sell all this stuff, from the car itself if you choose, to all the Lego's. There's some kind of plate, or plates, (haven't seen it yet) that glues on the top of the car and then lego's are attached to the plate to build whatever you want. I built some cars, weighted them with lead rod to 5 ounces, colored the sides with a Black Sharpie, put red wheels on one side and black wheels on the other, and we'll see what happens. This whole operation is in the hands of our Pack leader. I just built the cars.
If anyone is doing this, I would enjoy hearing what you do and see some pictures of what is built. Thank You.
