Here's a link to a Cubmobile design done from mostly plywood instead of two-by-four's:

Check out their breaking system as well (link at bottom of page). Very unique.

Re: Interesting Cubmobile Design
I had found that site a year ago.
It was neat to see something different and alot of info about the built on the web site.
I think though, they should follow the Cub Scout Guide book plans and rules.
I believe they will have rule updates for the Cubmobile in the 2007 Guide book.
I'm hoping they will have better information in the new book.

Sporty, have you seen these ones with the extendable front axle? Here's the link:

Sort of lets the car "grow" with the boy. Yet another cool idea

Re: Interesting Cubmobile Design
I don't think that I have, thanks for the link.
I took a look, pretty nice Cubmobile.
I think the only thing I dont care for it the safety sides for the seat and floor safety foot board is missing.
But it does look like they had a nice event, alot of work putting those tires on the sides. Which they had something for the middle for a divider.
But maybe they just had single lane runs.
I still would like to see the same design used for the stock class. that way at some point there can be district races from the local winners within the districts.
I have seen a few open class ones out there that are really neat. nice wood body of them, reminded me of soap box derby.

I like the foot brace, Just cant tell by the picture if there was a piece to keep the foot from slipping off.

Re: Interesting Cubmobile Design
Did some digging around and located a PDF file that contains a more detailed design of their cubmobile. It has some better views and diagrams of the foot brace. Here's the link to it:sporty wrote:...I like the foot brace, Just cant tell by the picture if there was a piece to keep the foot from slipping off.
