Need ideas on how to bracket the race.

Post by Pack38dad »

I need help guys.

I am in charge of our Cubmobile race this coming May.

We haven't ran a race in quite a few years and nobody really knows how to run it.

We want each den to have their own car, not each boy. This will help participation by not leaving out boys who do not have the skill or cannot afford to build a car.

Now, the predicament. Each den has a different number of boys.

I think we should run each boy in both lanes and give them a cumulative time to decide the winners. Each boy will race in his den built car. Does this sound fair even for the dens with fewer boys?

Its about the only way I can think of to do a race by the den and declare a
1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher.
There's nothing wrong with lead. I ate a ton of it as a child and I turned out ok!!!!

Can you share your information? We have not crossed the race procedure hurdle yet. I am looking at timing devices, but we have not discussed much about any of this yet.

Just like pinewood derby weight does effect the out come.

So if your racing 40 lb Tiger Cubs against 100 lb Webelos you may want to
do a weigh in .
We don't, we give out first second third place for each rank. We have 2-3 cars per each rank though.

The main thing is to make sure every boy rides at least once if not twice.

I think we will do 1st, 2nd, 3rd in rank.

We are thinking of doing a weigh in and adding weight for an overall race.
