Solenoid Start Gate

Post by SlartyBartFast »

Maybe someone can benefit from my searching.

This solenoid may work attached to the existing gate lever:

Or, use a spring loaded trunk latch Electronic Trunk Latch Kit:

Interesting;
What would be the reccommended poundage to pull a start gate lever?

Another thing I have found is the jolt of the snap can sometimes effect track times if the jolt is so hard enough to wiggle the cars.

Not sure what poundage would be necessary. But use a trunk latch and release solenoid and I'm sure you could minimise the required force.

I guess i am thinking a tad different on this.

Why not a pin release system.

Instead of pull or push.

Just a quick release by pin !

you pull back the starting gate. it has a whole in it, the pin goes into the whole. hit a button and the pin quickly pulls out of the whole.

electro magnetic, hydraulic, air cylinder.

Is not the ESS the same thing or close to what the idea is ?

Pins jam.

The ESS is a solenoid that operates the lever on the stock Besttrack starting mechanism.
