I'm planning to build an Open Class car with unrestricted wheelbase for an upcoming Renegade race. This will be run on a Best Track. Can anyone measure the distance from the start pin of a Best Track to the back edge of the track? This would be a helpful dimension when trying to determine the optimum length of car to build.
Thanks,

7 13/16 (7.8125) on my track.

So build it 7 3/4", just like the ol' timey cars!
Easy way might be to glue the extra 3/4 to front. Put the front wheel(s) at the very front of original block. Should be easier to keep everything square.

I'm planning to maximize the entire wheelbase, pushing the front wheels forward and the back wheels backwards. This is a Renegade race, with very few rules. I'm using a 3/8" thick piece of balsa for the body, and will add tungsten to the underside to put the weight where I want it. Bearing wheels, drill rod axles, and a 3 wheeled rail rider will hopefully get me a new track record. (I currently hold the Renegade track record from last year, at 2.259 secs on our 35 foot Best Track.
