Storing and Transporting "fleets" of cars

Post by pack529holycross »

In preparation for our derby services project, we are making 25-30 "rental" cars for those who do not desire or cannot otherwise buld their own cars. Has anyone devised / planned out a carying case for multiple cars? My initial thought was to store them vertically in some sort of slotted foam insert for a deep tol box. Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

We'd probably build some version of the attached, just a multiple car version.

I guess it depends how "sensitive" you are about potential damage to the spare cars and whether you want the carrier to "second" as a display case.

If we weren't too concerned about damage, we'd probably just get a 8" tall box and build an internal "pigeon hole" matrix from 1/8" plywood or similar material. Maybe line the bottom with one layer of bubble wrap. Then just drop (gently, of course) the cars in there.

There's a case for 7 on eBay right now.

Not that you would need to buy it, but the pictures might inspire some ideas.
