Axle mounting
Any tips on mounting the axle to the 2 x 4. What to secure it with and different ways to mount it. Thanks for your help.
Re: Axle mounting
CoalMiner,
their our a few ways to mount the axle.
what type of axle are you going to use ? this will also help you decide and eliminate other types of mounting the axle.
1 piece axle ?
Also what are the rules for you childs pack ? in regard to the Cubmobile ?
This also helps in deciding how to mount the axle.
I have seen several styles of mounting. I have even designed my own style of mounting that I currently use.
The one I prefer not to use is the method - between two pieces of wood.
Or in the center of one piece of wood.
Provide more information, So I can better help you.
Sincerely,
Sporty

Re: Axle mounting
This is for a one piece axle of round stock. This is a father-son project. At this time the pack does not do the cubmobile race. My son saw it in the book and wanted to build one. Thanks

Okay,
Thanks for the explanation.
I would recommend either pipe (u Clampls or eye bolts for mounting the 1/2 axle rod).

Yep, I'd recommend the eyebolts. Only one hole to drill per axle end that way.
Also, plastic toilet bolt covers from over in the plumbing department will cover up the sharp edges of the hardware.
