Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
The family and I usually catch a couple of movies on DVD during the holiday break. I am interested in hearing your favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies.
My favorite Christmas movie is probably "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart, although I liked it more when it was less popular. My wife says I'm a contrarian. By definition, I disagree.
My favorite Racing movie is probably the Disney / Pixar animated film "Cars", only because the 2 year old selected it to watch every day while I was off on vacation recently. His open class entry is a Lightning McQueen knock off (in progress), I already posted some pics of my Ramone entry.
Care to share your favorites, or recommendeds?

Favorite Christmas movies (not in any order):
Christmas Vacation (everybody says I decorate my house like Clark )
A Christmas Carol (w/ George C. Scott - the BEST Scrooge ever)
A Christmas Story (I got my BB gun when I was eight)
The Santa Clause (the first one, I just like it)
Jingle All The Way (what a father will do for his son, funny too)
Favorite race movies (again, not in any order):
Rat Race (just plain funny, Jon Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson, and John Cleese rule!)
It's A Mad,Mad,Mad World (1963 - THE original!)
Down and Derby (obvious reasons)
Cars (animation and story is pretty good)

Re: Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
[The following movies, and previews thereof, are all rated G for General audiences.]
My wife is partial to White Christmas. (Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye, Vera Ellen)
As for me, I'm into the more serious [censored] stuff...
Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (Voice of Jim Backus as Scrooge)
Muppet Christmas Carol (Michael Caine as Scrooge, he is the only character not played by a Muppet)
Both have excellent scores and good re-watchability, since that's what you might be doing.
Not really into race movies, but The Great Race (Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Natalie Wood) is an entertaining race movie from the 60s.

Re: Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
I am not for sure if I have one favorite.
It seems to depend on my mood and every x-mas seems to be different in some shape or form.
However,
The past few years we have watched snowball express.
Christmas vacation is also one we seem to watch every couple of christmas.
Home alone, and the polar x-press are popular with the kids.

Re: Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
All time favorite Christmas movie has to be "Miracle on 34th Street" (original 1947 black & white version). Although they are not movies, you can't forget the cartoons "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Twas the Night Before Christmas", and "Charlie Brown Christmas".
As for Race Movies, I got to have a little more action in them than the norm. My all time favorite has to be Roger Corman's "Death Race 2000" (first acting debut of Sylvester Stallone). Also liked the first two Mad Max films, "Gumball Rally" (1976), and "Cannonball Run" (1981).

Take good and make it great. Take fast and make it faster. Performance drives success!
Re: Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
I second, or third or fourth A Christmas Story. Whole family loves this movie! Seen it like 10 times.
Re: Favorite Christmas and/or Racing movies
Wife is a nut for Muppet Christmas and The Santa Clause and The Santa Clause II
I like Christmas Vacation
Best race movie, though not really a race movie, Smokey and the Bandit (my son loves it even though it is a bit rough for a 10 year old… I could'nt resist… I saw it at 9 and I'm OK as an adult).
Cannonball Run and Gumball Rally are 2 of my other favs… my son didn't like Gumball Rally
Wife has no favorite racing movie… so I'll put her down for Stroker Ace (hahahahah!).
New topic maybe on flying movies/shows?
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Top Gun
Dogfights (History Channel)
