For our car club Pinewood Derby there was an award for the best sedan delivery. So I decided to make a sedan delivery for the race. The car club logo has a sedan delivery on its logo, this sedan delivery is a 1939 Chevy sedan delivery:
It starts with the plan…
The glue up of this car was 2 PWD blocks glued on top of each other. Then the weight relief cuts were made, for the reduction of weight.
And the DFW was narrowed:
Then the block was trimmed to 2 3/4":
And the plan is drawn onto the block:
The horizontal and vertical cuts were made:
Then the carving was begun:
Then the aluminum bottom cover was made and fitted:
Then the headlights were made on the lathe…
During the sanding process, the headlights were fitted and glued to the body:
A view of the car after it was sanded and another during the priming process:
The sedan delivery was painted silver and decals were added:
Before clearing the car, the weight was over 5 oz., so some weight loss ensued:
While the sedan delivery was being cleared the clear reacted with the paint and we had some trouble. The car was wet sanded:
Then it was re cleared:
The sedan delivery won the Best Sedan Delivery trophy. It was also 3rd place in Stock Pinewood Derby and 3rd place in Real Street (I used GPRM to omit my cars from the race results):

So pretty...I love this kind of workmanship.

Truly amazing. These are more works of art than any other term I could use to describe it.

I'm running out of things to say.
I'm just excited to view every build you and your son create.
