Early pinewood derby kit add trivia!

Post by whodathunkit »

In most of the early pinewood derby kit adds seen in Boys' Life magazines or in the C.S.P.Q and supply catalogs
The axle type seen in a lot of the kit adds were view 'ed as a 6 penny finish nail axle type.. ( like what is seen in photos below!)

Care to test you'r knowledge on the month & year of this pinewood derby kit add ?

In Boys' Life magazine using the big headed roofing nail axle type..

Early pinewood derby kit add trivia!

Good try Speedster!
But that's the wrong month and year.
For this Boys' Life Pinewood derby kit add.

Did you also note:
That the race car number is seen as 1.
And how it is different from the early adds seen
where the number is seen as 56 on the car.

(This add is real !)
And it's in a Boys' Life Magazine.

Getting closer Speedster!

What do you win!
The knowledge of when this kit add was seen in Boys' Life Magazine.
Would you believe I ran across this add and thought now this one is different from all of the adds I've seen.

Ok Speedster
keep trying your getting closer!

I'm Happy you know the answer. I truly, truly hope you write this book and everyone who knows special things contributes to it. I think this will be the most informational book ever written on the Pinewood Derby. I also believe many on Derbytalk have a wealth of information to contribute. I'm really looking forward to the book.

I give up. What's the answer?

Ok Speedster!
You talked me in to telling you.

(EDIT: Speedster I told you wrong my self for the year on this add as 1965.)

Would you believe this add was seen
In Boys' Life magazine in Feb of 1964!

I was looking threw a large stack of Boys' Life magazines that were given to me and ran across this add.
I thought it looked a little out of place from all the early pinewood derby adds seen in the magazines.

Thought this one would be a good one to share a little trivia on..
As it's the first pinewood derby kit add in Boys' Life I've seen using the big head roofing nails axles in the kit add.

Here some photos of the Boys' Life mag and pwd kit add:
