Derby Day Event / Program

Post by stfiscus »

Does anyone have any examples (or links to sites) for Event ideas for Derby Day? I am looking for 'fillers'... songs, skits, ceremonies, run-ons, etc. to use between races, or for those awkward breaks while a technical problem is ironed out.

Thanks!

Some years, our MC has asked trivia questions during such pauses in the action. The questions can be related to derbies, to real car racing, to your program, or to anything else that might be interesting.

Another possibility is to use the time to thank various people who have helped make the derby happen. People are paying more attention than at the end of the derby, after the awards are handed out.

Another possibility is to use the time to announce events coming up in your program's calendar.

Another possibility is to pick a kid and ask him about his car--the design, the construction, the inspiration, etc.

Here's a couple of sites that have some Pinewood Derby songs that make great filler and get the audience involved.

You can also have a den(s) do one of these as a skit.

Darin:

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking so hard about the derby stuff that I forgot about the obvious stuff!
