cleaning aluminum tracks - Best Track specifically

Post by jbofkc »

We have a new Best Track and have 6 pinewood events that will use it. We rent the track and the renting group supplies their own race management software.

Best Track says to use Simple Green to clean the surface. What do you folks use to clean the track surface? What ratio of simple green or other cleaners? Do you spray the product directly on the track or wet a rag and wipe with the damp rag? Do you have a "rinse" cycle or just wipe on the cleaner and wipe it dry?

Thank you for your input.

Our pack has an un-anodized Piantedosi aluminum track and we just use general purpose cleaner, like 409. Spray it on the track and then wipe with shop towels. The same should also work on a BestTrack.

Our Awana track is an anodized Piantedosi aluminum track and we use the same thing.

I have also heard that Simply Green is a good basic cleaner for tracks. We had our practice trial runs yesterday and just a damp rag followed by a dry one made the track shine like a new penny.
