unusual track, car design implications?

Post by pwd_neophyte »

I've been told that our local Pack will use a track with " rails that the cars ride between, not a tongue sticking up between the wheels".

Any experience with such a track?

Any suggestions for car design for such a track?

btw - this is truly a great discussion board; a wealth of information.

My opinion would be you should be able to have the wheels could go a bit wider than normal, say around 1/8" vs 1/16". Would be kinda interested on how big the room would be between the rails.

It might be obvious to say, but with this type of track, you wouldn't need to polish the inner edge of the wheel (that usually contacts the center rail), but instead would need to polish the OUTER face of the wheel.
Are you allowed to remove or sand down the lettering (I assume you are using standard BSA wheels)?
