Consider adding a 1" or 2" thick chunk of memory foam on the stop block. It will gently stop the cars with no rebound. If you make it about 1-1/2" wide and center it, then the front wheels, even if located far forward, will not impact the foam.
Does the slope and profile match what you will be racing on? If not, consider a second project to build one like that! Sometimes the track profile and length play a significant role in performance.

Did you build the track to be side-guided as opposed to center-guided to match what your actual races will be on?
