Finally did it!
After 5 years of cub scouts, all the cars we've built and all the trophies we've won we never got under 3 seconds. This year WE DID IT. 2.998!!! Our track is 37 feet pin to pin. This track has never had 3 seconds broken!

Way to go! Might you provide more track details? (material, brand, shape, type of gate, etc.)AlabamaDan wrote:This track has never had 3 seconds broken!

Re: Finally did it!
It's an aluminum BestTrack with thier starting gate and a SmartLine timing system. From the starting pin to the timer eye is 37 feet and 1 inches - I think.
Re: Finally did it!
Good Job Dan! That's a milestone.
We just set up our Best Track last night, 42'. Start pin to finish sensor is 39'.
It was a long, long time before anyone broke 3.00, then last year FOUR cubs did.
We'll see what happens this year.

Many are well under sub 3.0 on a 42 foot best track.
i think my best time was 2.94 something. 3 wheel RR. using oil.
my best time on a 42 foot bester track with 4 on the ground, graphite, bsa. was 2.97. something.

A test car last night did 2.99 on the 42' Best Track, 3 wheel, RR, graphite (no re-lubed), guide fin on front.
Saw a slight tail waggle during the transition... will look for a rough joint.

Re: Finally did it!
Crazy. When the track was setup again at church for the official race our best time was 3.0417? What a difference sitting for two days makes.
The other car we had running at 3.02 was seriously flawed at 3.15.

Or maybe slight differences in setup ... how well lanes aligned, overall slope of flat, height of start line, ...AlabamaDan wrote:Crazy. When the track was setup again at church for the official race our best time was 3.0417? What a difference sitting for two days makes.
