We did manage to slip in another significant improvement into Version 10.0 of the software. If a USB to Serial Adapter is detected, the software will now default to using that port. The use of these adapters is pretty common, as newer computers do not have built-in serial ports. This should help users to more quickly get their timer setup and tested with the software. This improvement will also help if the adapter is plugged into a different USB port on the computer, as that would result in a change of COM port number and has caused some users confusion in the past.

This change is included starting with the 10.0.901.6 update. The latest V10 update can be downloaded at http://grandprix-software-central.com/gprm/updates.php, if needed.

Of course, to take advantage of this feature, you must successfully install the drivers for your USB to Serial Adapter.
